Our facility is accredited by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) and we are currently using a GE Voluson 730 Pro Ultrasound machine to perform 3D/4D ultrasounds.
Ultrasound has come along way in the past 20 years. Traditional 2D ultrasound showed flat images in black and white that only trained professionals could decipher. 3D ultrasound now makes the scan look like a photograph and 4D makes it look like a movie. Pictured below are some examples of 3D fetal images. (Click on a picture to see it enlarged.)
We provide high quality diagnostic ultrasounds in our facility. We perform ultrasounds not only for our own patients but also for those of other physicians in our community. At the time of a diagnostic ultrasound the patient can request copies of either 3D or 4D ultrasound pictures that were obtained during the scan. Email or call us if you are interested in obtaining a 3D/4D diagnostic ultrasound. All diagnostic ultrasounds require a physician's order (a prescription with the diagnosis for which the ultrasound is being ordered).
The American Institute of
Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) advocates the responsible use of diagnostic
ultrasound. The AIUM strongly discourages the non-medical use of ultrasound for
psychosocial or entertainment purposes.
The use of either two-dimensional (2D) or three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound to
only view the fetus, obtain a picture of the fetus or determine the fetal gender
without a medical indication is inappropriate and contrary to responsible
medical practice. Although there are no confirmed biological effects on patients
caused by exposures from present diagnostic ultrasound instruments, the
possibility exists that such biological effects may be identified in the future.
Thus ultrasound should be used in a prudent manner to provide medical benefit to
the patient.
